  Affidavit--Lunacy The State of Texas, No. 8780 vs Mrs. Chas. Peterson County of Harris Before me, the undersigned authority, on this day personnally appeared W. E. Campbell, who, after being by me duly sworn on his oath, deposes andsays that Mrs. Chas Peterson of Harris County, Texas, is of unsound mind, and the welfare of herself and of others require that she be placed under restraint, or under treatment for such mental condition. Bryan, County Judge, Harris County, Texas Complaint of Lunacy The State of Texas, County of Harris In the County Court, Harris County, Texas The State of Texas to any Sheriff or Constable of the State of Texas---Greeting: You are hereby commanded to take the body of Mrs. Chas Peterson and her safely keep, so that you have her before the Honorable, the County Court, in and for the County aforesaid, at the Court House thereof, in the City of Houston, to answer the State of Texas on a charge of lunacy. Subject to further orders of court. Herein fail not under penalty of the law, and have you then and there this writ. Witness, Chester H. Bryan, Judge of said Court, and the seal thereof, at office in the City of Houston, this the 5 day of April 1919.
  Warrant in Lunacy The State of Texas vs Mrs. Chas. Peterson No. 8780 In County Court of Harris County, Texas Hearing in Lunacy Be it remembered that on this the 1st day of May, A. D. 1919, the above numbered and entitled cause came on for hearing, and was regularly tried before a jury, and at said hearing the following facts were adduced in evidence, to-wit: Dr. J. B. York, witness, testified as follows: "My name is J. B. York. I am a practising physician and surgeon and have practised actively for more than a quarter of a century. I have made a specialty of mind and nerve diseases for the past five years or more and am now in charge of the Insane Ward of the Harris County Jail, and have held this position for about five years. I know the defendant. Have had her under observation for the last four months and she has been in the ward for the past two or three weeks. At first she had to be tube-fed. And she would not get out of bed. Her mother was insane at one time and defendant has the same form of insanity which her mother had---Depresssive Insanity. Defendant is 27 years old. She has children but no property. She is a person of unsound mind and should be restrained and treated." ________________________ Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Harris County, Texas

  To the Sheriff of Harris County, You are hereby directed that you take into your custody the person of Mrs. Chas. Peterson, who has been regularly adjudged a lunatic by the County Court of Harris County, and her safely keep until you are further instructed by me to convey such person to the Asylum for the Insane at San Antonio, Texas, but upon being so instructed you shall proceed to convey said Mr. Chas. Peterson to the said Asylum at San Antonio, Texas, and there deliver her to the Superintendent of said Asylum and take his receipt for her.
  For the purpose of conveying said Mrs. Chas. Peterson as aforesaid you are authorized to employ guards (and the said Mrs. Chas. Peterson being a woman I hereby designate___as an attendant to accompany her to said Asylum).
