Notes
a. Note:   ool in Minneapolis, which later became the medical school at the Univ. of Minnesota. (Hamline University is still a private institution but no medical school.) The only class he didn't like and didn't do well in was geology because it wasn't about anything "living". He reportedly didn't really even have to study; school came easily to him. He graduated in 1901 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Hamline University, in Minnesota where he graduated Magna Cum Laude (with highest honors).
!Frequently quoted "Bobby Burns". After his father died, his mother, Hallie, returned to live with her parents, including her father who was an Irish immigrant. It is believed that he learned alot of his "Irish-isms" from his grandfather. When he was 7 or 8, his mother remarried to Washington Rader. Guy described a difficult childhood in which his stepfather, Rader, was physically abusive. Rader whipped Guy with a belt unmercifully and didn't allow children to be around adults. Children were to be "seen and not heard". Guy said he could never hit a child in anger because he remembered what happened to him and that if he wasn't angry, he'd never want to hit a child!
!Was twice-married before Ethel Wentworth, no children in previous marriages. He had a severe problem with alcohol abuse and was periodically unable to work.
!The Murphys were married in Minneapolis, then to Oregon for a year, but hated the rain, so moved back to Wyoming where they homesteaded in Keeline and settled eventually in Lusk to raise their family of four children. Ethel reported she read a book a day while in Oregon because of the rain. For more notes, see Ethel or Phyllis.
!Guy was not Catholic and didn't like the Catholic faith because he saw that people were raised in fear and died in fear.
Notes recorded by Nancy Inmon Brakke from oral interviews with Phyllis Murphy Inmon.

Note:   !His mother always wanted him to go to college; their family took a lot of pride in the fact that they were college educated. He was a very good student and worked his way through Hamline Medical Sch
