May 4 - Left by train from LaSalle St. station for the trip to New York. Train going 55 miles per hour. Saw the big flat iron building.
May 6 - We are now on the Steamer "Cincinnati".
May 7 - I am sea sick so could not eat the good food served. Sea is calm. There are 2,000 people on steamer plus the 600 helpers. Sea birds flying are beautiful. The steamer music good and enjoyed. Very foggy at times. All trunks ready to be taken off. We reached Cuxhaven at 1:30. From here we took a train to Hamburg & from there Aunt Dora "Dad's sister" Mrs. Werlich. Cousin Hanna & I went to a theater. Also went to see a couple of zoos.
May 22 - On our way to Friedrichsholm by train & got to Christianholm. Uncle Hans Kramer lives in a combined house & barn. Most every one wears wooden slip slops. Milk is delivered by dog cart.
May 25 - Cousin Dora, Uncle Han Kramer oldest daughter came home to visit us. We visited Aunt Anna Jensen, mother's sister. We visited Grandma Nave's tombstone in Krapp Cemetery. Then went to Born to Friedrichneuland where Uncle Jensen's brother lived. He then took us back to Friedrichsholm.
June 10 - Took train to Rendsburg, and to the canal.
June 12 - Went to Kiel today & from there took train to Fehman. Visited people at Petersdorf, Fehman.
June 16 - Fook train to Friehendorf. The homes here mostly have dirt clay floors. Also went to place called Lemkenhafen. Nice museum here. Also the oldest church in Fehman built between 1200 and 1300. Center Isles have flat stones under which people are buried.
June 19 - To place called Out, where we took steamer for Kiel, & from Kiel to Renksburg. From there back to Friedrichsholm. Fehman was a possession of Denmark but war 1848 gave it to Germany. During a great flood it drifted close to German land. From here went to Schleswig & visited places of interest, then on the Hamburg by train. Here we bought the tickets for our home sailing.
