Also, I have a photo of a painting of William and Louisa Cliat on my Ancestry.com page. If you don't have it, or can't access my tree, let me know and I can email it to you.

The only information I have on Hulda Patterson is her paternal line. I have not been able to get past her mother, Louise Cliat (1845-1910). I haven't been able to find any record of her before the 1880 census, where she is listed as 34 years old, married to William Patterson and born in Georgia. Do you have any further info? Have you found any benefit of using an offline software program? I have Family Tree maker, but have been using Ancestry.com on and off for several years.

The grandmother that I have the photos from is Christine Hobby. She married Charles Hobby (son of Alto, son of Charlie and Hulda). There are several photos of back woods Alabama and miscelanous family member. I'll look for the disk so I can get them to you. Maybe someone on your end will recognize the people.
As far as Charlie Hobby's mother being a Creek-I've found notes to indicate that, but no proof so far. I haven't even found a photo of her. She married William M Hobby on 11 Jan 1852. She is listed on the Pulaski County 1850 census as a member of the Hardy household, with her last name as listed as Hardy. There is a column for race, which was left blank on that page. In my mind, if she wasn't white, as most people on that page probably were, it would have been listed. Of course, this is assuming they told the census taker that she wasn't their biological child. I'll see what else I have and get back to you.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Your grandmother was Hulda Patterson Hobby? I would love to see your photos. It has been a long time since I posted my tree to Ancestry. I have an updated tree on roots web world connect - NielsenRoots. I would be happy to share any notes that I have. Two big questions I have been researching for years, are the ancestors of Hulda Patterson (going back four generations from her), and Charlie Hobby's mother being Native American - Creek.
It is great to be in contact with you.

Unfortunately, I don't have many notes, but I do have several photos that I scanned from my grandmother's photo album. She was married to Charles Hobby I. My brother, Charles Hobby III (1986-2005), was, as far as I know, the last Charles/Charlie Hobby in the family line. Later on today, I'm going to check out your tree. Maybe it will fill in some of the gaps I have.

  Hello,
I am the great great grandson of Charlie H. Hobby and Hulda Patterson Hobby. I saw your family tree on Ancestry.com and wanted to make contact. I have been researching Charlie Hobby's and Hulda Patterson's ancestors for years. I would be interested in comparing notes.
  Best Regards,
