Note: Wayne's cousin Janice Bell, grandaughter of Fairie Fackey Jones remembers hearing her family speak of Bethel Elbert and Sarah "Sallie" Jones. Bethel Elbert is the son of Bethel A. Jones - Sarah "Sallie" is the daughter of Harmon Adams. This is factual, being communicated through family lines of Sam Jones' sister, Fairie Fackey Jones. __________________________________________________________________________________ Flora Nell Jones (daughter of Samuel P. Jones and Gladys Hobby) can remember her mother talking often about Fairie Fackey Jones, her father Samuel Jones' sister. She can also remember visiting her father's sister "Aunt Ev" who was much older than her father - the recollection is that when visiting her she seemed about the age of Flora's mother, Gladys Hobby. Also recalled is Samuel Jones' brother, Lewis, who was a pastor. __________________________________________________________________________________ Email from Richard Harrison, 1/2004 "I reread in my James A. Olive genealogy that Tempy's twin brother was Elbert Jones. I think that info came from Dan Guy (years ago). Her parents were Bethel A.Jones and Nancy, according to my notes. __________________________________________________________________________________ Bethel E. Jones, married to Jack Miller. They are both buried at Jones Cemetery outside of Cottonwood. My mother was Inez. I had your grandfather's name as a brother to my grandmother, but that was all I knew about him. Did your family live in the Cottonwood area? I have been looking for information on Elbert and Sallie for years, and only within the past 6 months found anything about them. I was beginning to think they never existed. No one in the Miller family knew very much about them and didn't really show any interest in learning about them. I look forward to hearing more from you. Ann From Ann Hegger (fahegger@yahoo.com) - 11/7/2007 I have some great news!!! My late sister's daughter sent me some photos that belonged to my mother and I think one of them is of our Great-Grandpa Jones, or at least his name is on the photo. I couldn't believe it when I first saw it. There are other photos, too, but none are identified and I have no idea who they are. I'm going to get someone at work to scan it for me and try to email it to you. It may take a few days because we're really busy, but I will get it done ASAP. I may send you others, too, to see if you can identify them. Ann From Jannes Beall (wendellbeall@embarqmail.com) - 12/23/2007 I can't wait to see a photo of Grandfather Elbert. I am anxious to see if it looks like the one I saw as a child, but which was destroyed when my uncles house burned. Warm regards, Jannes Beall From Ann Hegger - 12/23/2007 My niece found the photo when she was going through her mother's things (my sister) and found pictures that had belonged to our mother. If his name had not been written on the photo, I would not have known who he was. I'm also glad that it surfaced. A new Civil War round table group has formed in the town where I live and one of the members said he would try to find some more information about Elbert. I haven't heard anything, so he may not have found anything else other than what we already have. It's been a few years since I saw 50. You're just a young kid (ha). I'll be 67 this year, along with all the aches and pains that goes along with getting older. My daughter's due date was March 1, so the baby is quite early. She was pregnant with twins, but lost one of them in September. The doctors were sure she would lose this one within a few hours or days. Her doctors say she defied all the odds in keeping this baby. She was on total bed rest from September until last week - first at home, but then when she went to see her doctor about a month ago, he put her in the hospital and told her she wasn't going home until the baby was born. Her doctor was having some concerns about the baby the day he was born and wanted to do a C-section that day. It all happened pretty fast. But he's here and we pray that he will grow into a strong, healthy little boy. He has had people praying for him from the east coast to the west coast and from Illinois to Florida. I hope you get the picture in a few days - let me know when you get it. Merry Christmas. Ann From Jannes Beall - 12/27/2007 Hello Wayne. I also hope your Christmas was good, and thank you so much for the photo. Yes, this does look like one of the two men in the photo that had hung in my grandparents home. Of course, Elbert was wearing a Confederacy Uniform in the photo. Unfortunately when the house burned, the photos were all destroyed. The face and eyes of the man in this photo surely resemble some of his descendents whom I know. Do you know if Inez Miller married a Jones also? I wonder if there were other photos Jones Family in that lot. I have a great niece( not quite 2 years old yet) whose face looks like my Aunt Wille Jones Miller. I do understand that this child descended from the Joneses and need to check it out. I do not remember seeing Aunt Willie, but she held me a lot when I was a baby and young child. When my grandmother, Fairie Fackey Jones Guy died, my grandfather Daniel Darius Guy, married her sister, Willie Jones Miller ( Uncle Jack had died). My Grandfather Guy had dated both Willie and Fackie before he married Fackie. Take care, and thanks so much for the photo. Warm regards, Jannes
