Notes
a. Note:   Find a Grave: A true pioneer, widow Cora May Wells Foster Peck Brown staked a claim on 160 acres in the 1893 Land Run in the Cherokee Strip of Oklahoma. She drove a covered wagon with her baby daughter, Blanche Foster, beside her in the run. They lived in a dugout on that land until a Civil War veteran drove them out and forced her to relinquish her land. Widowed for the second time and now with three children to support, she became the first and, at that time, the only woman to have a rural mail route in the state of Oklahoma.
