Amos married Hannah Sinclair , the daughter of John Sinclair and Rachel Steer of Virginia. From the letter, Elizabeth's father was in Scott Co, KY in 1830, then moved to Morgan Co, IL along with the rest of the Sinclairs in the early 1830s. By 1845 Amos had moved to Mahaska Co, Iowa. Amos and Hannah had 10 or 11 children.

  the children I have found are Elizabeth S, Thomas Garrell, John Watson, Martha, Ella, Rachael, Samuel, Joannah, James, Sinclair, and Hannah.I have traced the Sinclair's to VA in about the 1730 they are a large family in Loudoun Co. VA. John Sinclair the father of Hannah moves to Ten about 1800 and to KY about 1819 and dies in Morgan Co. IL 25 Jul 1851Hebron Cem. Morgan Co. IL. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmorgan/twp-yates.htm lists all the people buried in the Hebron Cem. the Lindseys and Sinclairs and other related families are listed. 1830 from John Sinclair to Watson Sinclair (brother of Hannah Sinclair Phillips) I was going to put family sheets in the library in Loudoun Co.
