In 1860 listed as Recompena believe they are the same person. Might also be the same as a Recompence Stanbery a professor who had compiled thousands of family names yet to be published before his death circa 1890 in Dallas, TX. (This fact was found in Genealogy of John of Leominister) (Younger brother Henry becomes an editor of the Dallas News)

Find a grave His parents were Joseph Stanberry and Sarah Jane Beard. He married Adeline Borden and upon her death married Dortah Knight.
Teacher, Superintendent of the Dallas Schools from 1884-1885 and owner/manager of Stanberry Book Company. Death of Prof. Stanbery Prof R. Stanbery died at the residence of his brother, Mr. Henry Stanbery. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1836. For the past eight years his home has been in Texas. He was superintendent of the Dallas city schools for two years.
He leaves a wife, three sons and two daughter. His son living in Dallas and his daughters in Ohio. His sister is Mrs. Kraemer of Whitesboro.
