Note: RECOMPENCE STANBERY
Son of Josiah Stanborough born 1646 and Admah Chatfield. Recompence was born Aug. 22, 1672. Is said to have been one of the first settlers at Scotch Plains about 1689. His wife was named Sarah, unknown last name. Mention is made of a Recompence Stanborough as master of a ship in Maryland records dating 1694 to 1698, possibly the same. Nothing further known.

NATHAN born about 1713 died about March 29, 1762 Middlesex Co. In his will he names brother Recompence, his wife Prudence, son Josiah, Robert and wife ? Freeman, David with wife Phebe and their daughter Phebe. Sons of Nathan; Recompence, Joshua, Annijah and Nathan. Daughters Pheby and Polly.
JOHN ( this is a possibility no proof found). John is in Scotch Plains with Recompence in 1747 and there is a John who is active in political affairs and even survives a shipwreck off Cape May in 1766.
