Note: Believe that Andrew is the son of John Diver as they are the only Divers in Monroe between 1820 and 1840(census years). A Mr. Diver was an early mail carrier between Cleveland, Eire and Ft. Meigs (Toledo area), this would have been by horseback and it was probably Andrew and not his father John. Andrew was born 1796 in New York unknown location. In 1820 (census) Andrew is shown with a female 16-26 years ( born 1794-1804 ) presumed to be his wife. Monroe County has a population of only 1,833 at that time and only 8,765 in the entire state (territory). In 1830 the county has a population of 3,187 and the state (territory) a population of 27,378. Andrew is listed with 1 male 5-10 years old ( born 1820-1825 ), 1 female under 5 years, 3 females 5-10 years and 1 female 40-50 years (wife). In 1840 the county has grown to 9,229. Andrew is listed as A.J. in Lasalle township with 1 male 15-20 years (John),2 females 10-15 and 1 female 15-20 years. There is no female listed that would be the age to be his wife, perhaps she had died before 1840. In 1850 Andrew is listed as being 54 years old, born in New York, occupation farmer and residing in Raisinville Township. Believe that he has remarried. His wife is named Fanny age 47, born in Canada (which Monroe would have been in 1803, unknown exactly where she was born). It also lists the following children; Henry Freden age 10, born in Michigan, Lucinda Diver age 8, born in Michigan and Nancy Ann Diver age 2, born in Michigan. It is believed that since Henry's last name is Freden he is not Andrew's child. . Children of Andrew J and first wife, 1 son and 4 daughters; John born Jan. 18, 1821 in Monroe Mary born about 1825 probably in Monroe Daug. born 1820-1825 Daug. born 1820-1825 Daug. born 1820-1825 Believe that his first wife was born between 1794-1804 unknown location and that she died before 1840, unknown when or where she is buried. According to Minard Vincent Diver, he stated that his grandfather, Minard said that his grandfather, possibly Andrew John, came from Canada and married a squaw. 1820 Monroe 1820 United States Federal Census Name: Andrew P Diver Home in 1820 (City, County, State): Monroe, Michigan Enumeration Date: August 7, 1820 Free White Persons - Males - 16 thru 25: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 16 thru 25: 1 Number of Persons - Engaged in Agriculture: 1 Total Free White Persons: 2 Total All Persons - White, Slaves, Colored, Other: 2 1830 Monroe Name: Andrew Diver Home in 1830 (City, County, State): Monroe, Michigan Territory Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 30 thru 39: 1 Free White Persons - Females - Under 5: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 5 thru 9: 3 Free White Persons - Females - 40 thru 49: 1 Free White Persons - Under 20: 5 Free White Persons - 20 thru 49: 2 Total Free White Persons: 7 Total - All Persons (Free White, Slaves, Free Colored): 7 1840 Monroe A J Diver LaSalle Township 1840 United States Federal Census Name: A J Diver Home in 1840 (City, County, State): La Salle, Monroe, Michigan Free White Persons - Males - 15 thru 19: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 50 thru 59: 1 Free White Persons - Females - 10 thru 14: 2 Free White Persons - Females - 15 thru 19: 1 Free White Persons - Under 20: 4 Total Free White Persons: 5 Total All Persons - Free White, Free Colored, Slaves: 5 1850 United States Federal Census Name: Andrew I Diven Farmer Age: 64 Birth Year: abt 1786 Birthplace: New York Home in 1850: Raisinville, Monroe, Michigan, USA Gender: Male Family Number: 29 Household Members: Name Age Andrew I Diven 64 Fanny Diven 47 Henry Freden 10 Lucinda Diven 8 Nancy Ann Diven 2 Checking record the name is Diver 1850 Farm Census taken July 14, 1850 Andrew J Diver has 36 acres, 3 improved, 33 unimproved, cash value of $100, implements and machinery worth $100.
