Miss Lena Stanbery comes home Saturday, and on Tuesday next, she and Miss Gertrude go to Detroit to enter the wholesale house. 1/2/1907 Wednesday A WEDDING Took Place New Year's Day At Noon Deerfield, Mich Jan. 2 On New Year's at noon, at the home of Mr & Mrs B. Stanbury, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Gertrude to Mr Clarence Zibble, of Tecumseh a traveling salesman for a wholesale barber supply house of Toledo. Rev. Rice performing the ceremony in the prescence of the immediate relatives and a few intimate friends of the bride. Promptly at the appointed hour, to the strains of the wedding march, played by Mrs Pulver, the bridal party took their places in the parlour, and there exchanged the marriage vows. the bride was attended by Miss Lena Stanbury, a sister, and Miss Brown of Somerset. The bride wore a suit in which she afterwards traveled, a light gray voile of silk. Following the congradulations a two course dinner was served. Amid showers of rice, Mr & Mrs Zibble left on the afternoon train for Detroit. The out of town guests were Mr & Mrs Asa Stanbury, of Cement City, Miss Lena Stanbury and Miss Brown of Somerset. The presentation was made by Byron Stanbery. The plantiff seeks to collect on a bill for building materials furnished Edgar Allyn Cole and Mrs Cole, Baldwin & Alexander are representing the plantiff. 4/20/1931 Miss Gertrude Stansberry who has been visiting her sister in Detroit has returned to the home of Mrs John Saxton in Blissfield. 7/6/1931 Miss Gertrude Stanbery Miss Gertrude Stanbery, aged 54 years, ended her life by inhaling gas Saturday afternoon in the home of her sisters, Mrs Mazie Heiser and Mrs Lena Foster in Detroit. Miss Stanbery who was the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Byron Stanbery of Deerfield, had been in ill health for some time and despondency is blamed for her act. Her two sisters had gone for an automobile ride Saturday afternoon and when they returned home about 10 o'clock they found her body in the bathroom with a gas jet open. Miss Stanbery was born in Deerfield and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, Ladies Aid Society and the Order of the Eastern Star in this village. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs Heiser and Mrs Foster of Detroit and Mrs Julia Engle of Adrian, and one brother, Max Stanbery of Jackson. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock in the Deerfield Methodist Episcopal church and burial will be made in the Deerfield cemetery. The Rev W G Prout of Detroit, formerly of Deerfield, and the Rev C B Risley will officiate. 7/9/1931 Funeral of Miss Gertrude Stanbery The funeral of Miss Gertrude Stanbery was held at Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. The Rev W G Prout of Detroit, a former pastor here, officiated. Rev C S Risley, pastor of the church, read the Scripture lesson and offered prayer. Hal Brown of Palmyra sang, accompanied by Mrs H L Lipp. The bearers were Dale Diver, Stacy Diver, Douglas Diver, Asa Diver, Fred Langschied and J O Frayer, cousin of the deceased. The burial was made in the Deerfield cemetery. Relatives and friends from Jackson, Detroit, Toledo, Wyandotte, Adrian, Blissfield and Whiteford attended the services. 8/11/1931 Appointed Executor Max B Stanbery of Jackson has been appointed executor of the estate of Gertrude W Stanbery, deceased, of Deerfield. The appointment was made by Judge Harry L Larwill of the Lenawee probate court. 2/19/1932 Represent Defendant A notice of appearance for Max B Stanbery, defendant in a suit brought by J M Ford, has been filed with the clerk of the Lenawee circuit court by Riley & Riley of Blissfield. Mr Stanbery was named defendant as executor of the estate of Gertrude Stanbery, deceased. The plantiff seeks to collect payment for a bill of goods delievered to the deceased. Riley & Riley of Blissfield are repreenting the defendant in the action. 5/13/1932 A hearing on the appeal of J M Ford of Blissfield from the decision of the commissioners on claims in the estate of Gertrude Stanbery, deceased, was being held by Judge Rathbun today. The suit was brought over the disallowance of a bill for materias presented to the estate, Frank D Smith of Detroit was representing the appellant and Riley & Riley of Blissfield were representing the estate. 5/14/1932 Taken under advisement The appeal of J M Ford of Blissfield from the decision of the commissioners on claims in the estate of Gertrude Stanbery, deceased, was taken under advisement by Judge G Arthur Rathbun after a hearing in the Lenawee circuit court Friday. The action was brought over the disallowance of a claim for q bill of materials. Frank D Smith of Detroit represented the appellant and Riley & Riley of Blissfield represented the estate.
