Adrian Telegram 10/2/1897 Saturday MOTHER AND DAUGHTER Have a Legal Squabble in Justice Court AND THE DAUGHTER WINS The Jury Brings in a Verdict for $110 for the Young Lady A distressing family jangle was aried in Justice Vandegrift's court Thursday and Friday, in which a daughter, Sophia Engel sues her mother, Margaret Ambacher, to recover $100 borrowed money and $52.50 of furniture, alleged to have been taken. The two lived side by side on Railroad street, and it was brought out in the testimony that the mother got angry because the daughter built an addition to her home, and put it where she, the mother, did not want it. Mrs Ambacher refused to pay back $100 she borrowed, and moved off the street, taking it is alleged, some furniture belonging to the daughter. The jury returned a verdict for the daughter Friday afternoon, allowing her $110. Justice Vandergrift taxed the costs to Mrs Ambacher, amounting to $10. There were several rows during the trial, in which attorneys in the case were threatened with dire vengence. There was a good big audience thoughout the entire trial.
