Note: William Mackey is the son of John Mackey and Susannah Williams. He was born in Londondery, Northern Ireland in 1700. He came to America in 1730. A will of William Mackey of Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey might be his. The will is dated August 29, 1764 with a Mary Mackey as administrator. Unknown what relationship between Mary and William. It could be wife or daughter or daughter in law. The only known offspring was Joseph Mackey born April 12, 1741 in Sussex Co., New Jersey. William Mackey, son of John Mackey and Susanna Willias, born at Londonderry in Hibernia, 1700, died August 8, 1764. Married Mary Mitchell, daughter of John Mitchell and Alice Stout. She was born at Staten Island, October 22, 1714. Their children: 1. Mary born December 14, 1733 2.John born October 22, 1734 3.William born March 24, 1737 4.Alice born April 24, 1739 5.Joseph born April 12, 1741 6.Susanna born August 13, 1745 7.Richard born January 5, 1749 8.Mary born July 15, 1754 9.Prudence born February 16, 1757 This information came from a Family Bible which was in the hands of descendants of John Mackey, first son of Joseph (1741-1798). James Mackey states he has information from a Bible that states, Joseph was born at Staten Island, not Sussex Co., NJ as everyone believes. Also that Lewis Mackey and Margaret Campbell had eleven children. Their second son, Lewis Lawrence Mackey, is his great grandfather. His son, James Lewis, his grandfather, and his son, David Lewis, is his father. Also have born in Scotland, moved to Kondonderry, Ireland. Came to America 1730/ Had 7 sons and 2 daughters.
