Her godparents were Toussaint Riopel and Marie Louise Lorain [whom she was apparently named after] Maria spoke fluent french and taught all of their children to speak fluently too. The 1850 census of Monroe Township in Monroe County, 16 October 1850, lists Andrew, 21, farmer (real estate valued at $800.00); Mary, 49; Daniel, 18, laborer; Joseph, 14; Mariah, 12; Ellen, 10. The 1860 census of Monroe Township in Monroe County, 20 June 1860, lists Mary, 58, widow, (real estate valued as $500.00, and personal estate valued at $250.00); Andrew, 29, farmer; Joseph, 24, farmer; Ellen, 20; Mary, 4. Maria is buried next to her son Joseph and his wife Josephine in County Line Cemetery, east of Milan. Her headstone reads: Mary, wife of Andrew Murray. * Married: 28 May 1828 in St Antoin, Raisin River, Monroe County, Michigan * Note: Andrew and Maria were married in the presence of Joseph and Louis Chamberlain in St. Mary's Church in Frenchtown (Monroe). They were married by Father Wm. Bodin, a Roman Catholic Priest and missionary of Michigan. Maria's brother Joseph was born 1 April 1805 and half brother , Louis, was born in 1795, were both born in Detroit. The marriage record states Marie Louise Chamberland married Arthur Murray at St. Antoine, Rivière-aux-Raisins [Monroe], 28 May 1828. Witnesses were her father, Joseph Chamberland, her brother, Louis Chamberland, and Claude Couture [her brother-in-law, married to her sister Catherine Chamberland]. They had several children.
