Notes

Note: ympia High School in 1956, and attended Bellingham´s Western Washington University in hopes of becoming a teacher. Instead, she married the love of her life, Roy Leonard Swanson, on September 26, 1959 at Olympia´s Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and became an incredible wife, mother and homemaker, making good use of her teaching and organizational skills. She was a 53-year resident of Eatonville, Washington.
Karen was outgoing, funny and a social butterfly. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing cards and Bunko, fishing, shrimping, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a tour guide at the State Capitol in Olympia, and was a member of the Mary Bridge Orthopedic Guild, Relay for Life, Red Hat Society, and various card clubs.
Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy; son, Michael D. (Krista) Swanson; daughters, Kim S. Swanson, Sherry A. (Buzz) Rehse, and Heidi K. (Tod) Stephens; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and grandparents, Harry Rodolph Derrick and Lydia Susan McCool.
She is buried at: Masonic Memorial Park, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
