Notes
a. Note:   N57 1865 New York State Census gives great detail as to Andrew's farm which he shared with his father. His portion was 65 acres, with a cash value of $1,400. His livestock was worth $300 and consisted of 5 cows, three calves, 2 oxen, 2 pigs, and 11 sheep. His tools were valued at $40. Of his 65 acres 5 were plowed with 1 acre fallow, 18 were in pasture, and 30 in meadow. He produced 15 tons of hay, 40 bushels of grain on 1-1/2 acres, and 57 bushels of potatoes on 3/4 acres. He had 20 apple trees and raised 40 bushels of apples and made 2 barrels of cider. He slaughtered one pig for 375 pounds of pork. His 11 sheep produced 19 lambs, and 60 pounds of wool. He had poultry and eggs worth $19. He claimed domestic manufacture of 10 yards of cloth, 10 yards of flannel, and 30 yards of cotton and mixed cloth. He was not a dairy farmer, but apparently concentrated on self sufficiency and some produce like apples, potatoes, and cloth for cash. This is much different than his brother Charles W. who was principally a dairy farmer.
