Note: N940 It is possible that Sarah died in child birth with Samuel Venable. Sarah was admitted to Methodist School in New York City in 1810 at the age of 7.5. Her mother Susan worked as a shoe binder. She was discharged July 28, 1812. Note says she was inattentive and stayed home a lot due to ill health. In 1820 Susan Veneble is found in the 10th Ward of New York City with a girl possibly of Sarah’s age. Susan is head of household so Sarah’s father must be dead, divirced, or missing. In 1800 a James Venable is found in Staten IIsland, New York. A few others by the name are all found in the south; Virginia or South Carolina. I assume James was the father of Sarah. It is interesting to note that in the 1830 census of Ithaca, New York a “Mrs. Venable” is shown although in the house are a man 30-40 and two women, one 20-30 and one 60-70. Nearby is Alden Lyon, Reuben’s brother. This leads me to believe that Sarah married to Reuben is the same girl found in the School in 1810.
