Note: N951 Durant Weekly News Friday, December 17, 1948 Caddo Herald Editor Passes Guy A. Crossett, veteran publisher of The Caddo Herald, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at his Caddo home following an extended illness. He was 68 years of age. Rev. Charles Puckett will officiate at funeral services Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the First Methodist church of Caddo. Burial will be in the Caddo cemetery under direction of Holmes. One of the real pioneer publishers of Oklahoma, Mr. Crossett came to this state from Texas in 1899 and purchased the Herald. He has operated it continuously since that time. His birthplace was Greenville, Texas, where he was born Feb. 28, 1879. In addition to his widow, the deceased is survived by a son, Guy G. Crossett, of McAlester; two daughters, Mrs. Nina Fay Hardy, of Laverne, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Janice Bates, of Los Angeles, Cal., two brothers, R.E. Crossett of Soper and F.L. Crossett, of Davis and six sisters, Mrs. Etta Wood of Caddo, Mrs. Ben Payne of Wapanucka, Mrs. Ella Shackelford of Wynnewood, Mrs. Grace Ford of Wewoka, Mrs. J.W. Gardner of Mena, Ark. and Mrs. Fly Enos of Los Angeles.
