Note: Lines has October 10, 1843. "According to the last will and testament of Jacob Crossett where he had set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four which is nine years prior to his actual death, he lists the following request: I order and direct that the said Martial B. Crossett shall pay out of the estate above mentioned six-hundred and fifty dollars in manner and form following. To my son Russell D. Crossett the sum of one hundred dollars at or before the time of my decease. To my son Eli Crossett seventy-five dollars including twenty-five dollars already paid by the said Martial B., to the said Eli at or before the time of my decease. And to my son Martin P. Crossett the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars at or before the time of my decease. And one hundred dollars to my son Jacob R. Crossett to be paid one year after after my decease. And to my son Alfred Crossett one hundred and twenty-five dollars, to be paid in two years after my decease. And to my son Sheldon Crossett the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars to be paid in three years after my decease. But if either of the before mentioned sons shall not be twenty-one years of age at my decease, they are to be paid when they arrive at the age of twenty-one years." "Furthermore in the petition to the Surrogate of the County of Wyoming regarding Jacob's last will and testament, it lists Martial B. Crossett as the petitioner and that Jacob died in the said town of Orangeville on or about the first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-three. In this document it also states the following information regarding the living heirs: that the following named persons are all the heirs at last and next of kin of the said deceased, and their respective ages and places of residence are as follows, viz.: he left no widow. He left four sons, this petitioner who resides in the said town of Orangeville. Martin P. Crossett who resides in Kane County, Illinois. Jacob R. Crossett who resides in said town of Orangeville. Sheldon Crossett who resides in said town of Orangeville--all over the age of twenty one years and one grandchild Andrew Crossett, son of (Russell?) Crossett deceased aged 14 years, residing in Orangeville." "These papers provide alot of documentation as to the names of Jacob's children and who preceeded him in death. I believe the original will lists the sons in birth order with the possible exception of Martial and Russell, as Martial was the sole executor. These documents also tell us that Jacob's wife Sarah preceeded him in death, as did Russell, Alfred, and Eli." Boston Daily Advertiser Oct. 14, 1843 "In Orangeville, Wyoming Co., NY, 1st ultimo Deacon Jacob Crossett 66, a native of Pelham, Mass. and one of the first settlers in the town of Moores, NY. He had been a resident of Orangeville about 50 years. He was extensively known and respected by all who knew him."
