Notes
a. Note:   My notes: From Rikers.org writeup;
  He is said to have resided at Chestnut Level, Pennsylvania. He and his wife were Presbyterian. They had ten children. They moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania when Samuel was 18, whenever that was. This means that Frederick may have lived at one time in Maryland. Samuel was 18 in 1792.
  In 1802, at age 59, with his wife and eight of their children, Frederick Riker emigrated to Ohio. This was the year before Ohio was admitted to the Union. They travelled by Ohio riverboat from Pittsburgh, landing at Cincinnati June 25.
  Our account does not say where Frederick settled in Ohio.
  Lived in Little Britain township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in the 1790 census. Took most of his family to Hamilton County, Ohio, in 1803, using a river boat to travel down the Ohio River.
  John Wise is descended via his mother from Frederick's son Thomas' son John.
  There was a Frederick Reighard or Richards , son of Casper Reichart, lalso born 1742/1743, living in Neww Hanover Township around the same time; died in Bedford Co PA. His wife was Christina Holderbaum.
  -----------------------------
  Timothy Riker and father at rikers.org http://rikers.org/Riker-Book-2008-11-02.pdf Their "book" online, summarizing their Riker research.
  Citing two traditions, one of which in a letter sent "me" in 1908 by Rev. Albert Burdsall Riker, A.M. D.D. 1852-1929, then for many years president of Mount Union College, alliance, Ohio, a 2x gt grandson of emigrant, William Richter.
  He wrote that Frederick Riker or Richter, resided at Chestnut Level, Somerset County, Penn. Chestnut Level, a hamlett of under 100 souls, is in Lancaster County 7 miles from Maryland border. No record of a place of that name in Somerset County.
  Frederick and his wife were Presbyterian.
  Logically if Samuel was born in Maryland and lived there until he was 18, his father came to Pennsylvania in 1792. I find someone like him in Little Britain township in 1790 census.
  No idea where these names and dates came from. Prob Rev. Riker. The names are, however, except for the wife, backed up by Andrew Ricker's 1796 will, in which he names his father and his siblings.
  Andrew, b Apr 1, 1768 John b Mar 2, 1770 Sarah b Mar 5, 1772 m Richard Love, lived near Cincinnati. Samuel b Oct 25, 1774 b Maryland, lived there til 18th year, moved to PA. m Sarah Clark, 12 c's, lived in Hamilton County moved to Montgomery. Mary, b Dec 27, 1776 m Johnson, lived near Loveland, Ohio James b Nov 16, 1780 Rachel b Sep 5, 1785 m Middleton, lived at Sharonville. William b Nov 15, 1787 married and settled at St. Paris, Champaign Co, Ohio. Thomas b Jun 2, 1789 settled near Cincinnati, son John married and moved to Crawford Co IL. Catherine b Jun 27, 1795 m James Ayres and lived in Montgomery Ohio.
  Frederick may have lived in Maryland.
  In 1802 when he was 59, with his wife and 8 of their children, Frederick Riker emigrated to Ohio. by Ohio riverboat from Pittsburgh, landed at Cincinnati, June 25.
  According to Dr. Riker's letter, Andrew and John remained in Pennsylvania, residing at Chestnut Level and raised large families. (Note that Andrew's will and its proof makes it clear he died before the family left for Ohio, and I can find no sign of the family in Chestnut level.)
  ======================
  My own research:
  Not found E Nottingham 1771 or 1774.
  Need to get 1772, 1773 records from Chester County Archives @ up to 10 copies $5. Need to get film of Martic tax records to look for John Richard of the 1810 census.
  Recheck of Chester County deeds index uncovered no evidence of land holding. However land in Nottingham could have been registered in Maryland - or never registered.
  Chester County Historical Librarian confirms deeds were often not registered.
  1772, 1773 Chester County, PA; tax rolls. 1772 East Ricker Frederick Nottingham 150 83 Landholder Provincial (P‐15) 1773 East Ricker Frederick Nottingham 60 253 Landholder Provincial P-16 Not proven it was the same Frederick Ricker, but in this location it is unlikely it wasn't. This wasn't very far from the Lancaster county line, nor from Maryland.
  Note that the places of birth accepted for two of Frederick's sons who went to Ohio, suggest that the family spent time in Maryland, and was in Lancaster County Pennsylvania by 1787.
  Frederick Ricker is found in the 1790 census  Little Britain, Lancaster PA 6 male under 16 1 male over 16 3 females.
  He is found there in the PA centennial census 1793; Frederick Richert  Little Britain, Lancaster, PA
  However I cannot find Frederick in tax records for Little Britain township from 1783 through 1792.
  Andrew Ricker (Rikard)
  Cecil County wills, Maryland Wills 1777-1810 Briefly abstracted by John W. McCoy c 2010 [email protected] From Family History Library microfilm that has books CC3 to FF6. Some of the wills express confusion about whether the testators were living in Chester Co., PA orCecil Co., MD, because of the boundary disputes of that period. We only list locations when thereis specific information. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~chevaud/dutoit/images/cecilwil.pdf From Book 6 should have been designated FF 6, 549 pp. containing 298 probates numbered 1-294 and 296-299 FHL microfilm #00136868 38. Andrew Ricker (Rikard) (p. 58), 23 Jul 1796, brothers John Rikard, Samuel Rikard, James Rikard, Thomas Rikard, father Frederick Rikard, mother Catrain Rikard, sisters Cara, Mary,Rachel, Catrain. Executor James McCay (McCoy). Witnesses William Miller, WilliamMcCracken. Proved 09 aug 1796.
  Frederick Reigart 1 50 in 1805 in Drumore township, which contains the hamlet of Chestnut Level.. He had: 126 acres of land, 2 horses, 2 cows. 0700. He was first found there in 1796. Doesn't seem like he has much. Ricker Frederick --- under acreage, ---- under . 2 horses and 2 cattle. 9.00 . don't know if that's his worth or his tax, but way less than anyone else. Under assessed taxes 1797/98 is Righart Frederick -- 1 101/2. Lease amount of tax charged anyone, and a number were charged it. 1799 Ricard Frederick 0 5 7 1/2 2nd lowest amount charged. 1800 Reigart, Fredrick 1 horse 2 cattle no land. Valuation 18.15 ($200-$900 was more common) assessed taxes 0 5 7.5 3rd lowest rate. Samuel Reigart is listed as a freeman - an unmarried, unlanded man of the town. 0 5 7.5 is his assessed rate. 1801 he's not in the summary of what he has, but it may be clipped off at the bottom. Samuel Rikard, Cropper, listed as a freeman, and then that list is cropped off at the bottom. Reigart Frederick is assessed - 5 7.5, as is freeman Samuel Reigart. 1802 Reigart Frederick 2 horses 3 cows assessed valuation $133. More typical was $1000 to $4000. Samuel Reigart, a cropper, a freeman. 1803 Righart Frederick 2 horses 3 cattle 0100 assessed evaluation. Only people with fewer livestock had less. James Reigart is listed as a freeman and Samuel Reigart isn't. He isn't on the list of people assessed for taxes. He is listed however on the next page. Reigart Frederick 0 50. 1805 He has 126 acres, 2 horses, 3 cows, valuation at 0700 = 153. People with no land were valued at more like 0020. tax 1 47. None of his sons among the freemen. 1806 126 acres. 2 horses, 2 cows, valued at 0700. There is also Reigart Adam Esqr Transferred by William Caldwell 14 acres valued at 0160. This sounds like one of the wealthy Lancaster families. No sons among the freemen. assessed 1 50 1807 Reigart Frederick 126 2 2 0700 No sons among the freemen. tax 1 50 1808 Rigart Frederick no land. 2 horses, 3 cows, 0130. No sons among the freemen. Three is a list of land sold and conveyed since last return, dated 1808, and Frederick Rickart is not on it. Nor is he on a list of householders removed from the township since the last return - and that was a substantial number. 1809 Frederick is gone. 1812 no Frederick and noone else of this family. I searched until 1815.
  One gets the overall picture that the grown sons of Frederick did not necessarily live with him. Andrew in Cecil County may not have been anywhere near his father in 1796. Two sons are at times listed in Drumore township as independent freemen. John, the eldest son after Andrew, never seems to be mentioned. Without the Martic tax records one doesn't know how long he had lived there.
  ===================================================================
  The following Reikert lived in the township of Drumore at a later date but it turned out to be a coincidence.
  Will.  Isaac Reikert in the township of Drumore.   Will made on Oct 3, 1834.   Names 3 children.  share and share alike.   Mary, Joseph, and Isabella Reikert to be paid when they marry or come of age. John Ritzer of Little Britain township guardian for his daughters Mary and Isabella.   John Long of Drumore guardian for Joseph. Friend Joseph Tyle?   execeutor.
  Isaac Rickert born May 9, 1797, died Jan 5, 1832 married Catharine Ruth. She married his brother Abraham Rickert, they had 9 children. But he was born, lived and died in Hilltown, Bucks County. Henry Rickert b 1729 Palatinate, died 1808 Bucks Co, married Catherine Friedt This guy turns out to have come from Doe Run, Chester County. East Marlboro.
  Isaac Reikert turned out to come from Doe Run, Chester County. It is a coincidence. The Retzer family also had moved into the area. Both families were associated with a Richey family who were original proprietors in the area. Isaac Reikert appointed two neighbors, John Retzel and a Long, as guardians of his children. He wasn't related to them.
  The following are at the Lancaster Historical Society. Their genealogist/ researcher said "we don't do that" in answer to can you please give me an idea what is in the Rickert Family File. They "do" "research", for a minimum of $60, which includes mandatory extensive written reports. They also "do" photocopies if you know exactly what pages you want copied. It sounds like Rust Belt brand of helpfulness. However, Allen Fretz Rickert who married Sarah Lehman, is a descendant of Isaac Reikert/ Rickert who died in 1832 in Drumond township. The Ancestry tree where I learned this verifies it's a completely different family that was centered in Bucks County, and the progenitor back about three generations was Henry from the Palatinate.

  Adam Reigart somehow owned 14 acres in Drumore township; he belonged to one of the wealthy families of this group of names from northern Lancaster County. He got inveigled into this interest somehow. It didn't look like he was directly responsible for it.
  Ritscher surname - Richer is an Americanized spelling.   Ritscher is a variant of Richard.
