Notes
a. Note:   ectory, when he lived at 515 N. Front St., and Jefferson and Front. Was 41 i 1880 census.
Alice Johanna is identified in an Ancestry family tree as their child but not found as such in 1880 census. She would have been married by that time. So there were more than the five children in the 1880 census.
  1905 greater Harrisburg directory
  Daniel M Conklin U.S.N. h 515 Front. George H Conklin watchman 515 N Front.
  David P. Conklin laborer 640 N Front Edith L Conklin, Mrs. 9 S Front
1860 census has a George Conklin at Lower Swatara TWP, Dauphin Co, PA, age 24 b 1836.
1910 Steelton Ward 4, Dauphin, PA spouse Sarah E Conklin, 1900 ED 103 Steelton borough WArd 4. B May 1836. Married 1860. Day labor in 1900.
  Sarah b Feb 1838 (1900 census)
George may have also been married to Lorenda
Looks like he was probably drafted for U.S. Civil War from Lower Sawtara township. Looks like his parents were most likely Elizabeth and John Conklin of Lower Swatara, Dauphin, PA, and he had a sister named Sarah b 1837 - or else his wife as he had just married! She could have been described as b 1837. Just the four Conklins in that township. Would explain how he met Sarah Wise.
On Ancestry he is consistently said to have married in 1860. Appears to be single on familysearch. On ancestry Sarah b 1837 also turns up in Lower Swatara so he may have married her, but no other household members younger than them so no children. This supports thinking Alice was Alice Weiss and not Alice Conklin.
In 1850 the Conklin family did not live in Dauphin County.
George H and Sarah are buried in I think Highspire Cemetery. Another George H Conklin died in Jul 1886.
Note:   He was a laborer in 1880 and an engineer in 1897-90 Harrisburg area dir
