Note: He was born about 1775 in Orange County, North Carolina. He served in the military in 1812 in north carolina. have service record copies for him from co c private in atkinson's 5th north carolina militia captain john young's co of infantry. He owned 150 acres on 17 Apr 1814 in Franklin County, Tennessee. He immigrated between 1832 and 1840 to Hickory County, Missouri. Thomas and his sister married a brother and sister Bailif, with the men acting as surety for each other. From these records we have proof that Telitha and Thomas were kin. Cane Creek meeting was formed with Thomas as the preacher. It is thought that this Thomas was the son of the founder, or the Thomas called the preacher, or Thomas Junior. Historical markers say it was originally formed by Quakers who came south from Pennsylvania and settled in the area now known as Snow Camp. During the Revolutionary War Cornwallis and his friends camped there, they slaughtered cattle in the house, and ax marks were visible. Other British troops died there after the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. They are buried in the cemetery there. Our Thomas preached there and at another meeting (name used for a Quaker church group) until his removal to Tennessee. [Stan Glaeser, 1996 <ssgla@netxpress.com>]
