Witnessed by John Newlin. Deed - Nov 15, 1821 - Rebecah Bailiff buys 100 acres of land on the waters of Hudson's Creek for one hundred dollars from Thomas Cate who is her son John's father in law. John Newham witness Deed - Aug 21, 1822 - Rebecca Bailiff of Orange Co, NC sells 100 acres of land lying in Chatham Co, NC on the waters of Hendersons Creek to Thomas Cate of Orange Co, NC. Witnessed by Isaac Harvey and Nathaniel Newlin, Jr. Source states that Rebecca may have been a sister to JAMES WATSON of Orange Co, NC. Linda Bailiff Stringer <cwlstrin@inconnect.com> states research has been done on the WATSON theory and has been found to be unlikely, [1999] Some research suggests that Rebecca may have married Phillip Watson prior to her marriage to Thomas Bailiff. This is still unproven. [K. Bandy, 2001] Walter Thetford (b. abt 1720 - d. 1767 Orange, NC) wife, Rebecca Rammage/Ramidge (b. abt 1833 Philadephia, PA), daughter of James Ramidge 1st child, son, born about 1745 Is this Rebecca the second wife of Thomas Bailiff?
