a. Note:   David Girdner is the 3rd great grand uncle and 7th cousins of Robert Lee Ruth. David Girdner and Peggy Ann Stephens are 10th cousins 6 times removed.
  David was the oldest son of Michael. He fought all through the War of 1812 and the Mormon War. He married Elizabeth, the daughter of Giles Parman. Her father was a Englishman and fought through the Revolutionary War. David and Elizabeth had their first child, Mary, in 1806 while living in Tennessee. When Mary was a child, the family moved to Knox County, Kentucky where they settled and eleven more children were born. In 1833, the family moved to Livingston County, Missouri. One more child, James Madison Girdner, was born in Missouri. Some records list date of death as 29 Jan 1864, however gravemarker listed year as 1861. 1864 is correct date.
