It is not known if Rachael married in Tennessee before the move, or if she died before the move. He served in the Union Army during the Civil War per Roy Bowman. It appears that he spelled his surname as Myers, per Kelly Oliver, some of Valentine's children used the spelling of Myers and other children used Meyers. Ke was a carpenter. Per Ancestry.com "Valentine Myers" served in the Civil War in Co. B, 1st Battalion, Tennessee Light Artillery, Union, discharge rank, 2nd Lieutenant. Buried in Veale Creek Cemetery, Daviess County, Indiana. It appears that Valentine spelled his surname as Myers (his tombstone is spelled Meyers). Per Kelly Oliver, some of Valentine's children used the spelling of Myers and other children used Meyers. Per Kelly Oliver: "Grandma Oliver's sister said that Valentine Myers and Sarah Jane Whitfield had 11 kids and moved to IN by covered wagon in 1868. They settled in Maysville, IN, just outside of Washington, in Daviess Co. Her parents owned a huge cotton plantation and owned slaves. Sarah Jane married Valentine Meyers. They had 11 children. They came by covered wagon to Indiana in 1868 with 10 of their 11 children and settled in Maysville, Indiana- just outside of Washington, Indiana. In later years she moved into the town of Washington, Indiana at 312 S.E. 8th Street. She died in her home on April 21, 1917 at age 85 years. Sarah Jane and Valentine Meyers and some of her children are buried at Veale Creek Cemetery in Washington, Indiana.
