Note: N3014 Vincent served as a captain in the Union Army during the Civil War. In the 1880 census his occupation is listed as lawyer and farmer. Dale Kent Meyers has Vincent Meyers' Civil War sword. Per Dale it is inscribed: "Presented to Capt. Vincent Meyers by the members of Co. C. 1st Regt. Tenn. Light Artillery August 9, 1864." Old Time Tazewell by Mary Hansard, page 221: "Captain Vincent Meyresowned the adjoining lands above his brother Jacob Meyres and built a finemill on said farm. This tract of land is owned at present by Mr.Spangler. Mr. Meyres's wife was Jane Fultz, daughter of Felte Fultz ofStraight Creek. They raised most of their family on this farm. - - -Captain Vincent Meyres, Sr. and his wife are still living. He owns herfather's farm on Straight Creek and lives at the old homestead of herfather at present." Vincent is buried in Phelps Cemetery, Claiborne County, Tenn. Tombstonereads Co C 1st Tenn. L.A. "War of the Rebellion", Volume 22, page 853 and 892 mention Captain(Vincent) Meyers.
