He has beautifully hand-written letters to Gov. Isaac Tichenor, his relative, from George Washington (1797) and James Madison (1804) Ted and Ruth retired to Tryon, NC in 1989, but later reurned to NY. EDWARD H. 'TED' BOUGHTON, 85 BRUNSWICK - EDWARD H. 'TED' BOUGHTON, age 85 , died Friday, November 16, 2007 at Samaritan Hospital of complications following a stroke. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Brig. General William H. Boughton, U.S. Army (Retired) and Grayce Lockhart Boughton and a late brother, William L. Boughton. He was the husband of Elizabeth Bridgman Boughton of West Hartford, CT. Surviving children are Linda Shuping (Paul) of Madison, VA, Douglas G. Boughton (Barbara) of Taborton, NY, Gail Evans (John) of Ada, MI, and Geoffrey Boughton (Lauren) of West Simsbury, CT. Married in 1970 to Ruth Klenk Dralle Boughton, of Ravena, NY, who preceded him in death. Surviving is a stepson, Scott A. Dralle (Carol) of Petersburg, VA, and also 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ted graduated from Troy High School in 1940 and entered the N.Y. State Merchant Marine Academy at Fort Schuyler, NY, graduating in 1942 as a Marine Engineer and Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He served as an engineering officer on merchant ships running in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, Persian Gulf, Indian, South Atlantic and portions of the Pacific Oceans, leaving the U.S. Maritime Service in 1946. He was employed in the Plant Engineering Dept. of Cluett-Peabody and Co. in Troy and the Textile Finishing Plant on Peebles Island in Waterford, Cartwright Sales and Service in Lansingburgh, and for 25 years in the Planning and Construction Dept. of Albany Medical Center Hospital, retiring in 1987. He lived at several locations in the Town of Brunswick since 1937, and was active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 27 of Eagle Mills and the Uncle Sam Council. He was a member of the Brunswick Sportsman's Club and Troy Pistol League. He belonged to the American Society of Plant Engineers for many years. A life member of the Eagle Mills Volunteer Fire Co., he once served as a commissioner and in later years as a fire police, until the time of his death. He was formerly an active member of Troy's Second Presbyterian Church (now First United Presbyterian Church) and since 1960, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick, having served as deacon, elder and member of the building and grounds committee. He was on the men's board of the Presbyterian Home Association, located on First Street, which in 1987 merged with the Eddy facility on Burdett Avenue. Also, he was active with the Brookside Cemetery Association, located to the east of the Church. His hobbies included hunting, target shooting, motorcycle riding, sailboat racing, golf, and oil painting. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick (Brunswick Church) 42 White Church Lane Brunswick.
