Notes
a. Note:   "Magnus Frykman, after being confirmed in large Sunne Church, was on his own and sought an inner calling which urged him to seek admission to pastor P.A. Ahlberg's school in Hvetlanda, Smaland. Ahlberg, long to notice the potential in this gifted man from the shore of Frykman Lake, was soon to become like Peter, a fisher of men, but in the the old country Sweden; he was to go to the scattered sheep in the great land on the other side of the ocean.
" The Banner of the Cross....Magnus Larsson was born in the town of Fryksdalen Sweden and while attending the second year of schooling at Karlstad College, he registered as Magnus Frykman.
Magnus Frykman Born: 3 Oct 1844 Backa, Ostanbjork Sunne Varmland, Sweden Died: 17 Feb 1919 In Chicago, at the office of his son Conrad, and accompanied by Carl, Magnus Frykman died after the funeral of his brother-in- law. Rev Magnus Frykman died in the arms of his son Conrad. Rev Magnus Frykman had been living in Paxton, Illinois at the time of his death, and was to be returning home after the funeral of his brother-in-law. Funeral Services were held in Gibson City, Ill in the Swedish Lutheran Church on Feb. 21, 1919. Some of these notes are from the 50th Anniversary book published in 1920 for The Lutheran Church of Sycamore, Illinois.
His remains were laid to rest in the Cemetery of Gibson City, Illinois. Magnus was the youngest of five girls and four boys and the last to go the eternal rest. Rev Magnus Frykman was ordained a Minister of the Gospel at the synodical meeting in Vasa, MN, on June 27, 1875. He served Lutheran Churches in Charlton, IA, Marinette, WI, Marquette MI, Republic, MI, Sycamore, Ill. Gibson City and Sibley, IL "The Tribute to Magnus Frykman" states that they had 12 children 2 daughters and ten boys. ( I see one daughter, Hildur in these Census Reports) All were in attendance at his funeral, and not mentioned was one daughter, and one son. Also present was Laurence Frykman, his Grandson.
Magnus Frykman served the Lord from 1909 until his death in 1919 at the Evangelical Lutheran Churches of Illinois. During 1895-1898, he served as the Chairman of the Illinois Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Synod. While Pastor of the Sycamore Lutheran Congregation, he was known for having built one of the largest and most beautiful Churches in the Synod.
Oct. 23, 2005 At a dinner at the Olive Garden in Gurnee, IL, these Magnus Frykman Families had their first meeting, with Dee Fryckman, descendant of Magnus' brother John Larsson Frykman. Linda supplied Dee with working copies of all her material in her ancestry, and some books to be read for references. Dee supplied the gift of the Family Tree Maker 2005 to Linda for our combined efforts. Attending were: Dick & Dolores her daughter Joyce and son-in-law Patrick Vaughn & Marlene & Daughter,Duane & Pamela,Danielle, Colin & Fiancee, Cody & Fiancee,Dustin,Linda ,Erica,Katie & Son,Rachel & Fiancee. What a wonderful Event! Welcome!
And now are added the Magnus Frykman families and their descendants. It has been truly enjoyable, writing these parts of the ancestry of the Frykman's and learning more about the lives of all the Ministry in these families. Being a resident of Minnesota most of my life, it has been rewarding to read about the work these men have done in the Evangelical Ministry These Ministers, Magnus, Nils, Paul , Andrew, and the Skogsbergh ministry from which, perhaps Andrew found his mate. Reading about the Augustana Seminary and the final College in Rock Island, Illinois, gave me a good feeling of the work that they have accomplished..
These young Ministers were the first Evangelical missionaries in the Midwest.

Because Magnus was born a Larsson, I shall continue to use the Larsson Frykman name for Genealogy purposes. df
