a. Note:   y P. Phillips--Finance, Taxation Employe Dies Of Heart Attack--Ray P. Phillips, an employe of the State Finance and Taxation Department, died at St. Joseph Hospital at 4:30 p.m. yesterday after a heart attack at work. He was 66. Born in Belleville, Ill., Mr. Phillips lived in Memphis for 40 years. He was a collector of delinquent inheritance taxes. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Maryville College at Maryville, Tenn. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dale Pifer Phillips; a son, R.P. Phillips, Jr.; four daughters, Mrs. J. Woodson Ingram, Mrs. J. William Elmore, Mrs. B. T. Petterson and Mrs. John L. McRee, all of Memphis; two brothers, Tom M. Phillips of Memphis and Clarence M. Phillips of Palestine, Ill.,; a sister, Mrs. M.P. Alexander of Branson, Mo., and five grandchildren. National Funeral Home has charge.
