a. Note:   Known as "Stella," Estella Margaret is shown in the 1900 census in the home of her parents as "Margaret." Her occupation is listed as teacher. According to the 1900 Pittsburgh Directory, she taught at the Albion School and was living at 5109 Carnegie St., Pittsburgh with brother Charles and sister May.
  She later married twice. Her first husband, Patrick O'Brien, died in 1910 at about age 35 and she later married again, to Robert Dorning. That marriage was dissolved, according to J.J. Houlihan. I located the marriage license application of Robert Dorning & Estella O'Brien in the Pittsburgh Marriage License Registry Index, docket # I21042, Vol. 88, pg. 174. The actual record is not available at the Carnegie Library and must be requested from the Allegheny Co. Marriage License Bureau. She was married by September, 1918 to Dorning who named her as his wife, "Stella Dorning," when he registered for the draft in Sept. 1918.
  I located Stella in the 1920 census under the name "Esella Dorning." She called herself "single" at this census and was likely divorced and/or the marriage was annulled by that date. At this census, one of her children, Stella O'Brien, was identified as the "foster daughter" of Barbara Houlihan and her husband, Matthew B. Lutz and living with them, next door to David and Barbara Houlihan at 1406 Washington, Chester, PA. However, daughter Estella is listed with her mother, as well as May and James, under the name "Dorning."
  At the 1930 census, Estella was again called "Estella O'Brien," called herself a widow, and was living in Stowe Twp., Allegheny Co., PA with children James and Mae.
  In June, 1962 Estella was living at 2201 Forest Grove Dr, Coraopolis, PA, per J. J. Houlihan.
