Notes
a. Note:   According to David F. Houlihan, Jr. in June, 1983, he was born on Main St., Pittsburgh in July, 1903. However, since his parents owned a home at 5109 Carnegie St. in 1900, it's likely that they were living at this address in 1903. David was the youngest of the 10 children of David and Barbara Guttendorf Houlihan and was confirmed David Francis Xavier Houlihan at Holy Rosary Church, Homewood, according to his own words. David moved to Chester, Delaware Co., PA in 1917 with his parents and several siblings. He married a Pittsburgh girl in Pittsburgh in 1926, but they lived in the metropolitan Philadelphia area most of their adult lives.
David Houlihan worked at Sun Ship for a time, began his career as a court reporter for the City of Philadelphia in Magistrate's Court in 1941and retired from the Civil Court there in 1964. He and his family lived in Glenolden, PA for 26 years, members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, South Avenue, Secane, PA. He was also a member of Most Blessed Sacrament parish at some time and he was an administrator for the Philadelphia Archdiocese CYO.
F.X. Houlihan only met his Uncle Dave once - during WW II, F.X.'s train stopped at the station in Philadelphia and his uncle met him there. F.X. never met any of Dave and Gerry's children either, other than Robert "Bob" Houlihan in October, 1993 at the home of Bob & Mary Beth Houlihan Wheeler in New Jersey.
David was a resident of the Leader Nursing Home in Yeadon, PA when he died. His burial was at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple, PA; the funeral was held from Our Lady of Fatima Church, South Avenue, Secane, PA.
