Notes
a. Note:   Known as "Aunt Mamie," Mary Alice Kinlen O'Keefe was also the grandmother of Charles A. Wassell. She is shown in the 1900 census as a 43 year old widow, living with her 6 children at 212 Develliers St., Pittsburgh. Given the birth date of her youngest child, son Alfred in September, 1888, her husband died between 1888 and 1890. She is also listed as being the mother of 8 children, only 6 of whom were living at the time of the census in June, 1900.
Kathryn and Ella Gallagher stayed with her and her husband (their aunt and uncle) during the scarlet fever illness which claimed the lives of their siblings, James and Mary Gallagher. John Keefe may have died in the mid-late 1890's, given F.X. Houlihan's memory of his mother's story.
"Mary Keefe" is listed in the 1920 census, living at 1515 Methyl Ave. in the Beechwood section of Pittsburgh. Living with her was her 40 year old, unmarried daughter, Catherine, sons Henry and John, and granddaughters Kathryn and Mary. These two granddaughters can only have been the children of son James J., as their last name is Keefe. James J. was not located in the 1920 census.
