a. Note:   At the time of the 1880 census, son Fred Guttendorf (shown as Fred in the census report) was married, living in the same house as his parents and siblings on 40th St., Pittsburgh. At this time he and wife Kate had 4 children and had been married at least 10 years. His occupation was "boiler maker."
  He is listed in the 1895 Pittsburgh Directory as Fred Jr,. boilermaker, living at 246 38th St., the same address as his father and brother Charles.
  He and wife Kate are not listed in the 1900 census. At the 1910 census he was living with sister Elizabeth and brother Charles. He does appear in the 1920 census, living with his unmarried sister Elizabeth and brother Charles at 246 38th St, Pittsburgh. He was 72 and a widower; he died the following year.
  St. Mary's Cemetery records report his burial on 19 Dec. 1921 from St. Augustine's Church, Butler and 37th, Pittsburgh. He died of nephritis and is buried with the rest of the Guttendorfs in section W., lot 340, grave 6(2).
