a. Note:   Josephine appears in the 1900 census married to Julius Ewald for 1 year with no children as yet. She was Michigan-born of parents both born in Germany/Poland, Thomas & Kate Jokosky, per the marriage record. Her maiden name is alternatively spelled Pierucha, Pieruski or Pierscka; the surname appears on the Michigan marriage record as "Pierutzki."
  By the 1910 census, she'd born 6 children, 4 of whom were still alive at the time of the census. She's been married 6 years and was living at 505 Alexandrine, Detroit. By 1920 she and husband Julius were living at 429 1/2 Willis, Detroit and 9 children were living with them. She was known to some in the extended family as "Aunt Josie."
  Josephine Ewald is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, MI, section 15, lot 199 with her husband, in-law's and several children. Her funeral was held at St. Josephat's Church, Detroit, MI where she was married.
