Note: According to the marriage record of son August and Marianne Koss 1 Nov 1878, Wilhelm Ritter was deceased and his widow had remarried and had the surname "Retzke. From the record of son August's second marriage at St. Elizabeth Church, Detroit, on August 27, 1908, we learn that August Ritter was the son of Guilielmo/Wilhelm/William Ritter & Josephine Mueller. But August's death certificate indicates his father's name was Ferdinand Ritter and his mother Minnie; these were names perhaps given by August at the time of his admission to Eloise Hospital. The parents named on the marriage certificate are the accurate ones, confirmed by church baptismal records. ___________________________________________________

Probably not as I have a DNA match at Ancestry.com with a woman descended from Christian Ritter through his daughter Carolyn Constantia, who also had son Wilhelm 2 years later.
