a. Note:   e 1870 census, either in Butler or Allegheny counties (Pgh). He was under 16 when his father died and his mother moved to Pittsburgh. Whether he moved with her or not is an open question. He was likely deceased by March, 1895 when his mother died; her obituary mentions her only survivors as being daughters Catherine Gallagher and Margaret McMasters, both of Pittsburgh.
Note:   Virtually nothing is known of John Dougan at this time. He appears as a 4 year old in the 1850 census and as a 13 year old in 1860, living with parents and siblings. I have yet to locate him in th
