a. Note:   n Kalamazoo, MI and became a registered nurse. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, East Grand Blvd., Detroit during the WW II years and there knew fellow nurse Marion Ritter who later married her brother. She married distant cousin Charles Wassell and later moved to Springfield, PA, then Annapolis, MD. Her daughters were adopted when they lived in Springfield. While in Annapolis, she resumed her nursing career, working at local physicians' offices. Mary Kay contracted Parkinson's disease which eventually resulted in her death. She is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Annapolis, along with her husband and sister, Regina.
Note:   Mary Kathryn Houlihan was known as "Mary Kay" or "M. Kay." She graduated from St. Anthony's High School, Detroit, MI and later attended and graduated from Bishop Borgess Hospital School of Nursing i
