Note: DEATH: THE CITIZEN-TIMES, August 2, 2007 Hayes Henry Dockery, Jr. Murphy - Hayes Henry Dockery Jr., 75, of Murphy, died Tuesday, July 31 , 2007, in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident o f Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Hayes Henry Dockery Sr . and Mae McDonald Dockery. For many years, he was owner and operato r of Dockery Monument Company and later started Dockery Land Company . Hayes was a member of the Murphy First Baptist Church. He was one o f the original organizers and charter member of the Cherokee County Re scue Squad and had been an active member of the Woodmen of the World. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Dockery. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Jones Dockery; a sister, Ali ce Jane Palmer of Murphy; a brother, Jack Dockery of Hyde Park, N.Y. ; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Ivie Funer al Home, Murphy with the Revs. Rick Edwards and Ricky Rogers officiati ng. Internment in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 p.m. Saturday afternoo n at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory o f Hayes Henry Dockery Jr. to the Murphy First Baptist Church Televisio n Ministry, P.O. Box 7, Murphy, NC 28906.
