Note: DEATH: THE CHEROKEE SCOUT, November 3, 2009 Alice Palmer Alice Jane Dockery Palmer, 79, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3 1, 2009, at Murphy Medical Center. She was a native of Cherokee County, and the daughter of the late Haye s Dockery Sr. and Mae McDonald Dockery. Alice was a graduate of Murph y High School and attended Western Carolina and Gardener Webb College . She worked for more than 30 years at Clifton Precision. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brother s, Hayes Dockery Jr., Gene Dockery and Jack Dockery Sr. She is survived by her two sons, Tommy Palmer and his wife, Frances, o f Aragon, Ga., and Donald Palmer and his wife, Tracy, of Murphy; daugh ter, Nancy Stroud and her husband, Terry, of Hayesville; seven grandso ns, Gabriel, Jake, Darren and Shannon Palmer, all of Murphy, Shawn Str oud of Hayesville, Joshua Palmer of Wilmington, Ohio, and Brett Palme r of Aragon; three granddaughters, Alyson Palmer of Murphy, Elizabet h and Emily Stroud of Hayesville; great-grandchildren, Emma, Natalee , Peyton, Zoey and Sydney Palmer; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones Docker y of Murphy, Lucille Watson Dockery of Hyde Park, N.Y., and Carolyn Co rn Dockery of Hiawassee, Ga.; nephews, Charles Hayes Chuck Dockery a nd Jeff Dockery of Bonifay, Fla., and Jack Donald Dockery Jr. of Monta na; nieces, Lisa Dockery Padgett of Bonifay, Debbie Dockery Mosher o f Hyde Park, Donna Joy Dockery of Richmond, Va.; and several great-nie ces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Townson-Ros e Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Ricky Rogers officiated. Bur ial was in Sunset Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers were Gabriel Palmer , Jake Palmer, Shannon Palmer and Shawn Stroud. Honorary pallbearers w ere Ab Radford, Adam Radford, Tim Radford, Tony Beasley and Troice Led ford. The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, a t Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
