Note: * 1870 * 1880 census, Johnson Co IL, age 17, listed as W. T., hh 162. With husband, John, and step-son, William Sherman "Moulton" Vaughn. * Register of Births, Johnson Co IL, showed that Birdie Mae Vaughn was the 3rd child born of Wiley. If so, Wiley lost first 2 children. This is possible, since she married in 1879, and Birdie was b. 1884. Also,Wiley's age was shown as 23 on the Register. (VAU020) * Wiley's middle name probably came from her father's sister, Matilda Morris, who was b. 31 Mar 1820, near Nashville, TN. (VAU055) * Wiley was not listed in the 1870 Johnson Co IL census, with her parents. There was a William M. Morris, male, age 7, listed who evidently was her twin brother. I have not located Wiley listed anywhere in 1870 census. * John Vaughn was appointed Guardian of Wiley and her brother, William, abt 1875. (Johnson Co IL Probate Records, LDS #1315888, p. 562 and 575,Book "C", February and March Term of Probate Court, 1876) * The Johnson Co Probate Record, LDS #1315888, p. 575, Book "C", states that "Matilda W(iley) Morris is a cripple child, and "not able to work hardly any". !* Wiley may have had a child, Alice S. (RIN 1256), by John Vaughn before they were married. Alice's tombstone marker reads that she was the daughter of J. and W.M. Vaughn. She was born in 1876, before John and Wiley were married. Tombstone could be in error, and Alice may have been dau. of John and first wife, Mary E. (Morris)
