Note: f Capt. Thomas Moffitt. Thomas lived in Wilkes Co NC in 1810 & livied not far from James Minton. In my family, James Minton was my great great great grand uncle on my father's side. Mary Jane Simmons married my great grandfather, John L. Vaughn in 1901 in Johnson Co IL on my mother's side of my family. FAMILIES TIED TOGETHER. * Born nee Simmons (Register of Marriages-Johnson Co IL) (VAU018) * One would assume that this is same person that married, first, Andrew Jackson Morris (RIN 1447), and then married John Vaughn (RIN32) after death of their previous spouses. * 1900 Johnson Co IL census, p. 285A, age 47, widow, 6 children, 3 living. with son, Granville, b. Dec 1892 & brother, Oliver Simmons, b. Aug 1875. * Obituary from Faye Bowman (abowman@accessus.net) March,1998.(VAU92) * She got sick at home and on account that there was no nurse or cook she moved with her daughter, Mrs Scott's, where she died. She had problems with her lungs for 10 weeks and was confined to her bed. Her siblings were with her during her illness. The funeral was held by Eld. Geo. Parmley and James Whitesides, the unsertaker of Simpson and she was layed to rest next to her former husband.
