Note: * 1840 census, Henry Co TN 01211001-00110001 , age 50-60. * 1850 census, Henry Co TN, Dist 6, age 56 VA, with wife & 2 children. Farmer. * 1860 Calloway Co KY, PO Murray, age 72 VA, farming, living in household of William I. Bourland, age 26 KY & wife, Sarah J. age 25 TN. (THIS MAY BE OUR WILLIAM A. VAUGHN. HOWEVER, I DO NOT SHOW WILLIAM WITH A DAUGHTER NAMED SARAH J. AS INDICATED AS WIFE OF WM BOURLAND.) * 1870 Henry Co TN, PO Paris, age 79 VA, living in household of his daughter, Susan Huie. On the census, it showed last name as Hooey, but probably was William Vaughn. * Information of William Vaughn gotten from LDS records, entered by Edna Marie Ahrens, 702 McKinley Ave., Rome, NY 13440, as to being the father of Stephen F. Vaughn. The listings of his other children in my records are my assumption, taken from census and Tax Lists of Henry Co TN, where each of the males were listed in District 6, along with William Sr. He, along with each of his assumed sons, were in District 6 together, during Tax Lists for 1843, 1847, 1848, 1849, 1850, 1851, 1852, 1853, 1854,1855, 1856, and 1857. * Could Viney A. Vaughn (1850 census, Henry Co TN), age 18, b. TN, be a dau. of William, also? William's son, James, named a dau. Vinie Adline. * I believe Richard Vaughn, b. VA, ca 1816 (1850 Henry Co census) was also a son. He named a son, William M., James, Stephen. Richard married Mary L. Brooks, 9 Oct 1838, in Henry Co. * Middle initial from * Gencircle families by dkimmins. * An application for WILLIAM VAUGHNS 1812 War Pension was filed in Paris, Tennessee by his daughter SUSAN HUIE and son STEPHEN VAUGHN.The application was dated February 18, 1871 and stated WILLIAMS father STERLING VAUGHN had taken his place for awhile because WILLIAM'S wife NANCY had taken sick. WILLIAM VAUGHN died eighteen months after this pension was granted. THE PARIS TENNESSEE POST-INTELLIGENCE, dated September 1872 states that WILLIAM VAUGHN died at Porter Station. He was eighty three years old and been a resident of Henry Tennessee for forty years. He was also a veteran of War of 1812.
