a. Note:   Bernard originally lived on Blythe Marsh. When his son Raymond was born in 1931, Bernard was working as a Farm Labourer at Totmonslow near Tean, Staffs. He lived in lodgings at the farm with his wife, Bessie. After leaving the farm, they moved to Uttoxeter, living at a house in Church Street, finally moving to 87 Smithfield Road. In 1934 Bernard was employed as a Stoker at Uttoxeter Gasworks. He was still working there up to his death some 30 years later. Bernard was buried on February 14 th 1964 at Uttoxeter Cemetery.
