  Departed this life Dec., 12, 1893, at her home near Cottage Grove, Mrs. Elizabeth T. Lee, wife of Hiram Lee, aged 85 years and 10 days. Miss Elizabeth T. Cheek was born Dec., 2nd 1808, in North Carolina. At the age of 4 years, with her parents, she moved to Cape Goridive county, Mo., where she married March 11, 1827, to Hiram Lee. The fruits of this marriage were twelve children, six of whom have preceded her to the spirit land, and the other six with their aged father now, look forward to a happy meeting in the great beyond when they are called to go. She, with her husband and children, crossed the plains in 1863 and ... on a farm near Cottage Grove ... she remained until the... She was united with...in 1830, and on.... [missing a piece]...Nor did she forget a parting blessing to her friends. The funeral took place from the Christian church, and considering the inclemency of the weather, was well attended. The funeral services were conducted by Elder J. H. Sharp. The remains were laid to rest in the Shields' cemetery, east of Cottage Grove. _____________________________________________________ The Eugene City Guard, Eugene, Lane Co., Ore., Dec. 23, 1893:
  DIED - Near Cottage Grove, Dec. 12, 1893, Mrs. Hiram Lee, aged 85 years and 10 days. The funeral was conducted by Elder J. H. Sharp. The remains were laid to rest in the Shield's cemetery, east of Cottage Grove.
