She always talked and wrote about him. All her sisters thought she should forget some time. Aunt Bessie went to Redwood City with Paul Knapp from Eugene who was married and had a family. Bessie's daughter, Myrtie, told Juanita about it. Myrtie said her mother [Bessie] was wrong to do it. ________________ From Linda Hayes: BESSIE HELENA TRIPP
  Bessie Helena Tripp, 85, died July 18, 1974, in Santa Ana, California. Beloved mother of Mrs. Fred Hermon, Santa Ana, Row W. Tripp, Half Mo on Bay, and Mrs. Frank K. Runyan, Hillsborough; sister of Mrs. Mary Thurman, Springfield, Oregon. Also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A native of Eugene, Oregon, and former resident of Redwood City and San Mateo, California.
  Mrs. Tripp had for many years been active in the cause of Cystic Fibrosis and was an honorary member of the Peninsula Branch Chapter. Nearly twenty years ago she originated the Christmas Gift Tag project to raise funds for research into the cause, control and cure of this disease of children, and since the idea was introduced nationally, thousand of dollars have been raised for research.
  Private graveside services were held at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana Friday afternoon, July 19.
