Note: From Stephanie Miller and Diane Wiscarson: Joseph Linebaugh crossed the plains in a wagon train in 1863 settling in Sonoma Co., Cal. He bought land near Abraham, and across the Marin County line where he farmed until he moved to Ore. He and his family may have gone to Jackson Co., Ore., back to Sonoma Co., Cal., and then to Cottage Grove, Ore. One son, Hiram Linebaugh, was born in Jackson Co., Ore. in 1866. The Marin County directory shows him living in 1878/79 at Tomales Bay, where he had 79 acres. In 1885, he his son James, and R.A. Linebaugh are all living at Tomales, which is very close to Two Rock, Sonoma County. In about 1886, he and his family moved to Cottage Grove, Lane Co., Ore. __________________ C. B. Linebaugh petitioned to become the legal guardian of his sister, Ettie Linebaugh, after the death of both parents. __________________ From Stephanie Miller: Regarding the Linebaugh Bible- Glen, my grandfather said it came across the plains and belonged to Joseph Linebaugh. Many years ago, a cousin from the David Linebaugh family (remember 3 brothers went to Cal., Abraham, John and David, as did Joseph before he came to Oregon). Anyway, this descendant of David's was so surprised to see the Bible as they had David's that was identical. Now maybe they were gifts to all the boys, or maybe there just weren't that many different editions available. I just thought it was interesting that they immediately commented on the Bibles being the same. They were also the ones the clued me in to the missing photographs. They asked "where are the pictures"? And we could see where someone had torn the photo pages out. About 1968, I organized a family reunion held in Cottage Grove and relatives came from all over. Bonnie and Glen were still living. I took the Bible I think and mentioned the missing photos. Shortly after that I was mailed the one of Joseph and Elizabeth. ____________________________ 1870 Santa Cruz Co., Cal.
