Notes
a. Note:   Robert Logan crossed the plains by wagon train in 1853. They started from Mo. with two yoke of oxen, a team, and a milk cow. They were nine days crossing the Platte River. They followed the Barlow trail in Oregon and settled on a Donation Land Claim where the Corvallis municipal airport now stands.
Robert Logan may have been married to a sister of Lydia McQuerry first and had two children. All three may have died in an epidemic.
Sam, Steve, and Gil Logan also came to Oregon. They were brothers of Robert Logan.
The above was from an interview with George Gates in about 1978. Evidence has been found that Robert Logan was indeed married to Lydia McQuerry's older sister, Mary Jane McQuerry first. Later information also indicates that is was probably 1863 when the Logans came to Oregon. Later information indicates that Sam, Steve and Gil Logan may have been Robert's nephews not his brothers.
According to Wesley Gates, Robert Logan was a cattleman around Corvallis, Ore. When the cattle market went bad in the 1890's, he was unable to pay all of his debts. It was at this time that they moved to Wolf Creek area in Lane Co., Ore. It was when they were living at Wolf Creek that their daughter, "Pearl" Logan met and married "Joe" Gates. __________________ 1860 Marion Co., Iowa Census, Pleasant Grove Twp., P. O.
