PETERSON - Helen LaVelle Peterson of Noti died May 29, 1964. She was born July 24, 1926 in Cottage Grove and had been a life-long resident of Lane County. She was an active member of the Noti-Elmira PTA. Surviving are her husband, Clarence G.; a daughter, Barbara; a son Jim, both at home; father, George Gates and a brother, Wayne Gates both of Cottage Grove, and 3 sisters: Juanita Bemis of Cottage Grove, Agnes Clark of Creswell, and Melba Geer of Springfield; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 1964 at 10:30 a.m. in SIMON-LOUNSBURY FUNERAL CHAPEL. Reverend Ren Hollister officiating. The community was saddened Friday, May 29, 1964, when it learned Mrs. Helen LaVelle Peterson, 37, Knight Rd., Noti, had passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 24, 1926 at Cottage Grove, Helen Gates grew up and married there on Dec. 8, 1945 to Clarence G. Peterson. In 1949 they settled just west of Noti. About four years ago they moved to the present home on Knight Rd. She was a life long resident of Lane County and was active in the Noti-Elmira P.T.A. and the Noti-Walton Home Extension Club.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband, a daughter, Barbara and a son Jim, all at home; her father, George Gates and a brother, Wayne, both of Cottage Grove, Agnes Clark, Creswell, and Melba Geer, Springfield; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, Tuesday morning, June 2, were held at the Simon-Lounsbury Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ben (sic) Hollister in charge. She was laid to rest in the Sailor Cemetery near Noti. _____________________________________ Sailor Cem., Noti, Lane Co., Ore. - inscription:
