Barrett, 2086 Fifteenth Avenue East, April 14, 1920, Mrs. Effie Barrett Hill, aged 35 years. Besides her parents, she is survived by four sisters, Bertha Barrett, Mrs. Bessie Tripp, Eugene; Mrs. Mary Thurman, of Camp Creek and Mrs. Estella Gates, of Lorane; two brothers, Herbert Barrett of Albany, and Kenneth Barrett of Eugene; an aunt, Mrs. Ed Nye, of Springfield, and two uncles. Her husband John Hill died eight years ago. The funeral will be held from the Veatch chapel this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. Fred Hornshu, of Eugene, officiating. Interment will be made in the Masonic cemetery. ______________________ THINGS THAT I REMEMBER ABOUT THE HISTORY OF MY FAMILY BY AVIS MARIE (BARRETT) METCALF MARCH 1994 "I really don't know much about Aunt Effie but Mom [Avis (Thompson) Barrett] knew her quite well and they were good friends. She gave Mom her engagement ring. It was 2 opals surrounded by diamonds and a pearl or 2 if I remember right, all set in platinum. I gave the ring to Hugh [Leslie Hugh Barrett]. Aunt Effie and her husband, John Hill, had what they called a "flop house". (I suppose it meant a cheaper hotel) in San Francisco on the Barbary Coast.
