Ross, male, age 39, born SC and farming. Children shown were: William?, G., male, age 12; John E., male, age 10; B. F., male, age 9; Sophy?, female, age 7; J. R., male, age 4; All children born AL. NOTE; Some researchers show George W. Ross as born AL. The 1860 census clearly shows George W. Ross and wife, Elliott Gamble Ross as born SC.
  COMMENTARY: Living in the home or next door were Mary Dillard, 19, born AL; Martha Dillard, 14, born AL and Sarah A. Gamble, 49, born SC. It is believed that Sarah A. Gamble is George W. Ross' sister who married James A. Gamble. The Dillard girls are believed to be the children of Jabez M. Dillard and Martha Finney and 1st cousins of George W. Ross' wife, Elliott Gamble Ross.

(Ross) Zeldell, age 26, born AL and her family. Shown living in the home were: Jonathan P. Zeldell, head, age 34, born AL and farming; Mary E., dau., age 3, born TX; Paul R., son, age 2, born TX. Also living in home was Lula B. Thomas, cousin, age 9, born AL. Several black servants, born AL, were shown.
